Clare Restaurateur Warns Payroll Entitlements Not Sustainable

It’s claimed Clare’s bars, restaurants and visitor centres could be forced to fold unless government takes urgent action on payroll costs.

New research from the Irish Tourism Industry Confederation has found that the tourism and hospitality sector could lose up to €456m this year and €1.4bn by 2026.

This is due to measures introduced in Budget 2024 such as greater sick leave entitlements, the new auto-enrolment pension and the increased minimum wage.
