Clare Property Prices Down Over €19,000 Since January

The mean price paid for a property in Clare has fallen by more than 7% since the beginning of the year.

The latest figures from the Central Statistics Office show that keys were handed to the new owners of more than 50 homes here last month.

The average sale price for a house in this county has dropped by over €19,500 in the first six months of the year.

According to the latest Residential Property Price Index, the mean price tag commanded for a home in Clare dipped from €267,585 in January to €248,035 at the end of June.

On a national level meanwhile, the average residence sold for €365,000.

The Kilrush electoral area saw the greatest reduction in prices here, falling by over 24% to to €192,250.

In Shannon, buyers were set back an average of €216,857 to secure their accommodation, representing a marginal increase of more than €2,000 on the sum paid in January.

In total 57 properties changed hands here in June, with 23 going to first time buyers, 27 to former occupiers, while the remaining seven dwellings sold in the county were snapped up by former homeowners.
