Gardaí are advising Clare motorists to drive with extreme care today after heavy hail showers led to dangerous conditions in parts of the county.
The M18 motorway at Crusheen is said to be particularly bad – a number of cars have left the road on the northbound and southbound lane this morning,
There’s no reports of any major injuries.
A yellow weather warning for snow and ice remains in place this morning and Clare County Council is advising drivers to reduce speed, watch out for “black ice” and leave extra distance between your vehicle and the one in front of you.
Senior Engineer Tom Tiernan says roads will continue to be treated but he’s warning that heavy showers may wash the salt away:
