Clare Mother And Daughter Living With Ehlers Danlos Syndrome Launch New Awareness Campaign

Two Clare women are participating in a new national campaign that will aim to spread awareness of rare diseases.

22 Year-Old Ennis resident Ciara Micks was diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome in 2015.

The genetic condition which affects connective tissues supporting the skin, bones, blood vessels, and can lead to chronic fatigue, insomnia, seizures and fainting, was later detected in Ciara’s mother Anne.

Anne Micks who won Clare family carer of the year in 2022 and is also a member of rare Ireland says it’s vital that families and patients know the supports available to them.
