Clare Housing Committee Chair Calls For Overhaul of HAP System

The Chair of Clare County Council’s Housing Committee is calling for the HAP system to be overhauled.

Shannon Independent Councillor Gerry Flynn is responding to new figures released by the Housing Minister, which show that 33 million euro was spent on Housing Assistance Payments in this county last year.

At the beginning of 2019, there were 1,310 HAP tenancies here and by the end of the year that increased to 1369, while the average rent also went up, from 465 euro in January, to 480 euro by December.
