Clare Hotelier Is Calling For Aviation Traffic To Be Spread Out Of Dublin In New Year

The Chair of Clare’s Tourism Advisory Forum is calling for aviation traffic to be shared around outside Dublin.

The Dublin Airport Authority last month submitted an application to grow the capacity of the capital’s airport from 32 million to 40 million passengers per year.

Meanwhile, Shannon Airport only handled 1.5 million passengers in 2022, an over 200,000 drop in passengers on prepandemic levels.

Chair of Clare’s Tourism Advisory Forum and Ennis hotelier Sean Lally believes instead of increasing Dublin airport’s capacity, it’s better business to spread the load across the country.
