Clare Footballers Set For January 2nd Deise Trip For McGrath Cup Opener

Clare’s footballers will get 2022 underway on the second day of the New Year.

It has been confirmed that Colm Collins will continue in charge of the county footballers for a ninth consecutive season, extending his tenure as the longest serving current intercounty manager.

The first outing of 2022 will see Collins take his charges to Fraher Field Dungarvan on January 2nd for the opening round of the McGrath Cup with the game set for a 2pm start.

The Banner have been drawn with the Deise and Cork in the group stages, with the Rebels set to visit Miltown on Thursday January 6th with a 7pm start.

The top two teams in each group will contest the decider, which is fixed for Saturday January 15th.

Brian Lohan’s hurlers will face Waterford in the Munster Hurling Cup semi-final on Friday January 14th under lights in Sixmilebridge with a 7pm start.

The final is fixed for Saturday January 22nd
