An Ennis Public Speaking Coach claims more equality initiatives are needed to “level the playing field” in local elections.
It comes as Clare County Council has announced a free training programme for women who are considering running as candidates in the 2024 local elections.
At present just five of Clare’s twenty-eight councillors are female and the through the delivery of free online training programmes, the ‘Supporting Women in Local Elections’ initiative will aim to combat this.
Director at Doody Facilitation & Consulting Ltd, Sinéad Doody believes it will be decades before Ireland has even representation in government.
