Thousands of staff have returned to work this week, following the latest easing of restrictions.

Since yesterday, bars, restaurants and cafes are allowed to have outdoor service, while gyms and swimming pools have re-opened for individual training.

People can also go to the cinema and theatre, up to two unvaccinated households can also meet indoors and 25 guests can attend wedding receptions.

Manager of Treacy’s West County Hotel Leisure Centre, Mark O’Donoghue says there were a number of issues they’ve had to overcome ahead of re-opening.

One businessman says there’s still a lot of uncertainty affecting the hospitality sector in Clare.

General Manager of Durty Nelly’s in Bunratty, Maurice Walsh says while staff are happy to be back at work, they’re expecting the October to March period to be difficult.

There’s also calls for clarity surrounding weddings.

Owner and Creative Director at House of Hannah in Ennis, Lyndsay Moynagh says business is slow as many people have postponed their wedding until next year.

She’s hopeful that guidelines will be reviewed in July.
