Clare Beef Taskforce Member Describes Process As “Frustrating”

A Clare member of the Beef Taskforce has described the process as “frustrating”.

The 10th meeting of the group heard from representatives from a number of meat processors for the first time, who discussed the market situation, future challenges and opportunities.

They claimed that taking too much stock in at the start of January coupled with the markets cooling off due to the longer than expected lockdown was to blame for price cuts in February, at a time when prices were improving across Europe.

General Secretary of the ICSA and Cratloe Farmer, Eddie Punch says factory representatives should be taking part in the process on an ongoing basis and not just by invitation.
