Clare senior hurling captain John Conlon feels the squad were always confident they were ready to produce a big performance in their Munster championship opener.
Brian Lohan’s side set up a provincial semi-final date with Tipperary next weekend after running out four point winners over Waterford on Sunday afternoon.
Conlon picked up the man of the match award for his performance at centre back, with the Clonlara man reverting to defence for the first time at intercounty level this year.
