It’s claimed the new residential zoned land tax will create chaos in Clare’s towns and villages.

Landowners who have greenfield or brownfield sites here that have been identified as suitable for residential use will be liable for a 3% tax on the value of their zoned land from 2025.

The tax will replace the existing vacant sites levy and any affected landowners will only have until May 31st to request their lands be rezoned by the local authority.
