Claims Many Clare Families Will Still Suffer Low Standard Of Living Despite Enhanced Child Benefit

It’s claimed many Clare families will still suffer a below par standard of living despite enhanced child benefit supports announced by Cabinet this week.

From May 1st, Child Benefit which is paid at €180 per child each month will be extended for children still in full time secondary education, up until their 19th birthday.

The payment which currently benefits 15,817 households in this county will also be extended to members of the disabled community.

President of the Clare branch of Saint Vincent De Paul Denis Carty says that while the move is positive, much more work is needed to address local poverty.
