Claims Clare Communities Left ‘Dying On Their Feet’ Amid Delays To Wastewater Infrastructure

An East Clare Councillor says rural communities in this county are left ‘dying on their feet’ while the government delays in announcing which areas will benefit from new wastewater infrastructure.

In April of last year, Minister for Housing Darragh O’Brien announced the launch of a €50m scheme for essential sewage infrastructure for rural villages, and Clare County Council submitted applications to this for Broadford and Cooraclare in September.

The Chief Executive of the local authority has this week made direct contact with the department demanding an urgent update.
