Car Caught Travelling Almost 20k/hr Over Speed Limit In Clare During Slow Down Operation

A car has been caught travelling almost 20 kilometres per hour over the speed limit on the motorway in Clare.

National Slow Down Day is now underway on the country’s roads, with Gardai in force until 7 o’clock tomorrow morning, checking for drivers who are speeding.

Between 7 o’clock this morning and 5pm, GoSafe checked the speed of 102,404 vehicles and detected 126 vehicles travelling in excess of the applicable speed limit.

One of these was a car travelling at 137 kilometres per hour a 120 kilometre per hour zone the M18 at Ballyconneely, Newmarket On Fergus.

While another vehicle was clocked doing 82km per hour in a 60 zone on the R463 in Gortatogher, Parteen.
