Broadford manager Jimmy Browne is praising the character his side showed to get their championship season off to a winning start.

Victory over Clarecastle sees the East Clare side on top of the Group Four standings after their opening weekend.

Up next is a clash with Eire Óg in two weeks time, with the Townies needing to win that game in order to stay in the race for the Canon.

Browne says their sole focus was on getting the first two points on the board.

Meanwhile Inagh-Kilnamona manager Louis Mulqueen admits the pressure is now on his side to respond after they opened their season with defeat to Ballyea.

The Combo came out on the wrong side of the result against the champions, and now face a must-win tie in Round Two against Scariff.

Mulqueen says wasteful shooting cost his side, and they can have no complaints.

Meanwhile Clonlara manager Donal Madden praised his sides battling qualities as they saw off O’Callaghan’s Mills by a point.
