BOC – Clare Hurling Will Strive To Build On Minor All Ireland Success

Clare’s All Ireland minor hurling winning manager is urging the young stars in the county to use the victory as a springboard for future success.

History was made in Semple Stadium as Brian O’Connell’s side became the first team at the grade from Clare to win both the Munster and All Ireland titles in the same year.

It is just the second time in the county’s history that the Irish Press Cup has been won, with the last crown coming back in 1997.

Addressing a large crowd at the team’s homecoming in Cusack Park, Wolfe Tones clubman O’Connell said a huge amount of work went in behind the scenes to make their dream a reality.

Meanwhile the man who lifted the trophy hailed the leadership across their group as a key factor in their success.

Full-back Ronan Keane was forced off with a hamstring injury just before half-time, meaning a defensive reshuffle was needed for the second period.
