The region’s main hospital is experiencing an exceptionally high level of overcrowding as the week begins.
The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation has reported 91 patients were waiting for a bed at University Hospital Limerick this morning, with 60 of those in the emergency department.
It’s over a third more than the next busiest facility, which is Cork University Hospital where 63 patients have been documented on trolleys today.

It comes on a day when the INMO is reporting 637 people waiting for beds at hospitals across the country.
