Over 100 Households Join Council’s Housing List Since The Beginning Of The Year

Over 100 households have joined Clare County Council’s Social Housing List since the beginning of the year.

The latest figures from the Local Authority’s Monthly Management Report detail the needs of almost 2,900 family units.

Approximately 105 family units, individuals and couples have joined Clare County Council’s approved Social Housing List since the beginning of the year, bringing the total number of households awaiting accommodation to 2,844.

Over three quarters of these are approved for two bed houses or apartments, with a further 17 percent looking for 3 bed dwellings.

Meanwhile 169 households in this county require 4 or 5 bedroom homes.

Around 40 percent of households approved by the Council on the list have their first area of choice as Ennis

Shannon and Clarecastle account for just over 13% of first preference requests while 159 households have made the joint region of Ennistymon , Lahinch & Inagh their destination of choice.

On the other end of the scale, just 7 households have opted for Kilfeneora, with 11 choosing Kilmaley and 17 aiming for Kilmihil.

Meanwhile over 52% of those on Clare’s approved Social Housing list are availing of some form of rent supplement.
