Julie Dickerson
Welcome to this week’s episode of Clare Women in Business on Clare FM.
Julie Dickerson is the CEO of Shannon Engine Support located at Shannon Airport in Co Clare.
She has over 20 years experience in the aviation industry and joined SES as CEO in 2013 after 15 years at GECAS. Under her stewardship SES has grown significantly, including building the largest portfolio of LEAP spare engines and expanding our customer reach and customer solutions.
Born and raised in a rural part of South Africa, Julie’s father was a farmer and her mother a homemaker.
She attended primary and secondary school as a boarder because of the long distance she would have had to travel every day.
Julie went onto university where she studied economics and met her husband to be. After he was offered the chance to study for a PhD in England, the young couple got married and moved to the UK when Julie was 21.
After three and half years they returned to Johannesburg where Julie began working in the banking sector.
Although she had studied economics at university, Julie had her sights fixed on a different career at first.
