On The Today Show this afternoon David Blevings of the Irish Petrol Retailers Association spoke to Gavin Grace about the rising cost of fuel. The Irish Petrol and Retail Association says the price of fuel isn’t going to come down anytime soon. The cost of petrol and diesel is now at a record high – at 162.1 and almost 158 cent per litre, respectively. Petrol is now 5 cent more expensive then it was in February – while the cost of diesel has risen by 3 cent in the past month alone.
Noel Loughnane is a Culinary Arts Lecturer at GMIT – he spoke to Gavin ahead of tonight’s commemorative dinner. The Hotel School at GMIT is holding what plans to be one of the best Titanic commemorative events this year, an 11 course black-tie dinner replicating the meal served to guests in the first class dining room on the Titanic. Tickets are already sold out for the event, which takes place tonight in aid of the Galway RNLI Lifeboat.
Dr Máire Finn of the Ennis Family Medical Centre joined The Today Show for her weekly medical feature – this week Máire focused on mothers of new born children. She covered common issues with breastfeeding, weaning, post natal depression, post natal arthritis and pelvic floor exercises.
Doria Orfali is the Organiser of a Masquerade Ball in aid of CanTeen Ireland and in memory of Ciara Conroy. She joined Gavin in studio to discuss how the idea for the fundraiser came about and who it will help. She was also joined by Committee Members Victoria Kreuchen, Dara O’Brien and Holly Cotgreave. CanTeen is a nation-wide support group for young individuals aged 12-25 who have or have had cancer. Their aim is to help, support, develop and empower young people with cancer. The Masquerade Ball takes place in the West County Hotel on Tuesday April 3rd (formal attire).
As the final of Clare’s Got Talent 2012 draws ever closer Gavin spoke to the judges ahead of the event. Tracy Crawford, Brian Flynn and Nigel Bridge discussed the array of acts and the variety of talent in the county. The final takes place on March 24th in Glor. The 12 finalists will battle it out to be crowned the overall winner and scoop the €5,000 prize courtesy of St. Francis Credit Union, Ennis.
