The Today Show – Tuesday March 6th

On today’s edition of The Today Show, Gavin Grace spoke with professor Alan Donnelly from UL about a new study from the Department of Physical Education & Sport Sciences on the Sedentary Habits of Teenage Girls. Three separate lifestyle surveys published today show that Irish people are spending more time watching TV, lying down and not exercising, than ever before. One found that parents are being forced to cut back on paying for extra curricular activities, while the survey conducted by the University of Limerick shows that teenage girls spend 19 hours every day either lying or sitting down.  Dr. Donnelly will discuss the study and results and what it means for teenagers

Gearoid Mannion of Tom Mannion Travel Worldchoice joined the show for his weekly Travel Feature. This week Gearoid advised on trips and holiday destinations in Eastern Europe – especially for those travelling to Poznan this Summer. Gearoid gave tips for those wishing to visit cities like Wroclaw in Poland, Tallinn, Prague, Budapest, Bucharest and Istanbul.  He also advised on accommodation options and travelling by train.

Singer and Song Writer Mundy spoke to Gavin about his upcoming gig in Ennis. Mundy returns to Clare with a solo show this Thursday night, the 8th of March at Patrick’s Bar in Ennis. The consummate performer will revisit more than a few of his powerful hits, and songs from his 5th studio album “Shuffle”.  He’s had a stellar 2011, which saw him perform alongside Emmylou Harris, support Imelda May on her huge Irish tour and open the ceremonies for Barack Obama’s visit to College Green in May.  Mundy also told us about his performance for President Higgins this past weekend at Aras an Uachtarain.
