On The Today Show Eamon Timmons of Age Action Ireland spoke to Clare FM’s Gavin Grace following the discovery of an elderly man’s remains in Wexford. Campaigners for the elderly say the discovery of a man’s body at his home in Wexford town three months after he died, reminds us of the isolation felt by many older people. The alarm was raised after a passer by noticed the Christmas tree lights were still on and called the Gardai.

GAA writer with the Irish Independent Colm Keys joined The Today Show to pay tribute to the late Jim Stynes. Former Aussie Rules and All Ireland minor football medal winner with Dublin – Jim Stynes is to receive a state funeral following his passing away after a nearly 3 year battle with cancer. After retiring from playing Stynes took over as the Melbourne Demons president and saved them from a potential financial ruin, during his playing career the Dubliner played a record 244 consecutive games, won the Brownlow medal and was a Victorian of the year. The 45 year old was also well regarded for his work with young people through the reach foundation which he started while still playing in 1994.

Gearoid Mannion of Tom Mannion Travel Worldchoice joined us for our weekly Travel Feature and this week Gearoid had plenty of tips for people who are looking to travel to South East Asia

Thomas O’Hara, a Youth Worker with the Clare Youth Service in Shannon joined Gavin in studio to discuss a volunteer led arts project entitled “The Warehouse” which has been set up in Shannon under the umbrella of the Clare Youth Service. There are currently 8 different youth projects underway, including film- making.  They are looking for young people to get involved with the film, which they hope to begin filming in 2 weeks time.

Composer and Musician Gerry Diver spoke to The Today Show about his latest undertaking –
The Speech Project. The Speech Project is an album of new compositions featuring exclusive spoken word contributions from Shane MacGowan, Damien Dempsey, Christy Moore, Martin Hayes and Danny Meehan.  Archive interviews from Joe Cooley and Margaret Barry also feature in the compositions. The music is derived from the melody and rhythm of the spoken words.
