The Today Show – Tuesday June 12th

On The Today Show this afternoon Clare FM’s Gavin Grace was joined by Katie Drennan. Katie is a 21 year old Cystic Fibrosis sufferer from Ennis.  Also joining the discussion was Miss Clare – Hazel McMahon.  Hazel and Katie are both involved in a novelty fundraiser this week – a charity “Tanathon” with all money raised being donated to TLC4CF.  Hazel, a Psychiatric Nurse with Clare Mental health Services recently won Miss Photogenic and Miss Vita Liberata at a pageant in Dublin. Vita Liberata is a tan company and she won a part-time modelling contract with them for the year. She will hold the charity “Tanathon” on Thursday 14th June from 4-9pm. The aim is to tan 100 people in less than 5hours with 5 beauticians at hand from Vita Liberata with 5 private tents in The Clare Inn Hotel (upstairs in the Castle Fergus Suite). Her charity of choice is TLC4CF. Hazel had a cousin that died of CF, a friend that died of CF last year and 2 more friends suffering with CF at present and they need all the funds they can get to help build and open the new adult CF units in Limerick Regional Hospital. Tracy Crawford of BallyO Promotions and Brian O’Neill of the Rowan Tree Hostel and Café in Ennis also joined Gavin in the Clare FM studio’s to talk about the upcoming Love: Live Music Festival in Ennis. Ennis Town in association with BallyO Promotions and Clare FM presents ‘Clare Connections’, a music gathering in the heart of Ennis – the home of traditional Irish music. Up and coming Dress Designer Leanne Ryan joined Gavin on The Today Show to discuss her latest success. Leanne, a 21 year old Newmarket on Fergus student, has been hailed as one of Ireland’s most promising young fashion designers after winning a major award at a national competition hosted by Brown Thomas – the Triumph and Inspiration Awards (a lingerie competition). She studies at the Limerick School of Art & Design and Griffith College. She discussed the inspiration behind the winning piece and her hopes for a fashion career.
