On The Today Show this Friday Gavin Grace spoke with the National Chairman of the Parkinson’s Association of Ireland – Pat O’Rourke.  It follows a new study that’s found Irish Set dancing has emerged as an effective rehabilitative source for Parkinson’s patients. The international research is to be published at a conference this weekend.  The research is carried out by Dr. Daniele Volpe who’s based in Venice. Dr Volpe, who plays Irish music, conducted the research after watching a Parkinson’s patient dance a set “with remarkable balance and fluidity” during a session he was playing in at a Co. Clare pub. Pat O’Rourke outline dhow excited the association is with the results of the research and says a number of set dance classes for Parkinson’s patients will begin here over the coming months in response to the study.

Brendan Courtney, Co-Presenter of RTE’s “Off the Rails” joined Gavin on The Today Show and spoke about all things fashion! The style expert will be in Ennis next week to celebrate the 2nd birthday of local boutique – Juniper.  He discussed Irish fashion, the latest trends and Irish designers.

Former Clare Hurler, Seanie McMahon also joined Gavin on the programme to preview this weekend’s hurling semi final between Clare and Waterford. Clare are due to name their team over the weekend with Sean Collins facing a fitness test tonight to determine if he will be able to start against Waterford. Throw-in in Semple Stadium is at 4pm.
