The county’s hurlers are taking each other on in a novel way tonight – the hurlers have organised a fundraising boxing event to help raise money for the development of the senior hurling team. Fergal Lynch of Clooney Quin is the organiser of the event, he joined Gavin in studio to talk about their plans.  He was accompanied by Stephen O’Halloran of Clarecastle, Pat Donnellan of O’Callaghans Mills and Colum Flynn of the Ennis Boxing Club.  Nine fights are planned and eight of these will see players in opposition, while the remaining fight will be a ladies bout. The fights will pit players from rival clubs against each other. There will be musical entertainment on the night and it is also expected that there will be a special guest in attendance.  Tickets are available at the door.

Sarah Keogh, a Consultant Dietician discussed the results of a new survey that found that 86% of mothers say they make their baby’s food from scratch.  The research also confirms that mothers believe that preparing baby meals from scratch is a great way of ensuring that their baby get all the nourishment they need, while it also helps them manage the household budget.

Kate Hickey, Editor of Irish Central in New York spoke to Gavin about the latest happenings in the United States in our weekly catch up with the Irish community in America.

Clare Rose 2011 – Grace Cummins talked about her fundraising efforts ahead of her trip to Chernobyl with Chernobyl Children International. In February Grace and 12 other Roses are travelling to Vesnova children’s Mental Asylum in Belarus to volunteer with Adi Roche’s Chernobyl Project.
