On today’s show the focus was on reading, in particular a new initiative launched by the Clare Library Service. Helen Walsh, Clare County Librarian and Teresa Carmody O’Shea, Clare County Library Service Staff Officer joined Máire in studio to discuss “One County One Book”. Two books on the life of Brian Ború have been selected to feature as part of a newly announced initiative commemorating next week's 1000th anniversary of the death of the last High King of Ireland. Clare County Library is inviting adults and children across Ború's native county to read, discuss, share and experience the same book by participating in a 'One County One Book' programme. The title chosen for adults is 'Lion of Ireland' by Morgan Llywelyn, while the chosen children’s title is 'Brian Ború: Emperor of the Irish', also by Morgan Llywelyn. 'One County One Book' will be officially launched in the De Valera Public Library, Harmony Row, Ennis at 7.30pm today (Wednesday 23rd April), coinciding with the millennial anniversary of Brian Ború's death at the Battle of Clontarf in 1014. It is also the date on which World Book Night will be celebrated. Michael Moylan from Irish History Live also joined the programme as the initiative will feature an interactive history show at the De Valera Public Library. Michael aims to enthral the audience, adults and children, by providing hands-on experience of what life was like in the time of Brian Ború.
