The Afternoon Show – Thursday January 23rd 2014

 

Joining the show today was Fiona Walshe from the Really Truly Joyful Ennis Gospel Choir. The choir is bringing a new show The Festival Tent, to Glor next Saturday the 1st of February. Inspired by Glastonbury and Electric Picnic, they hope to eventually bring it to music festivals.  The show will include the Ennis Brass Band, Clare Youth Theatre, Sparks Hip Hop, a Samba Band and Drum Dance Ireland. Pat Hynes is a Lisdoonvarna based Writer and Director, his new one-man show will début for Dublin audiences next week. Scéal Eile Productions are bringing ‘Sparks’ to Theatre@36, Club na Múinteoirí from January 26th – February 2nd. ‘Sparks’ features Darren Killeen (Game of Thrones, Ros na Rún) – who plays every character, from overbearing school-mistress to obese, obnoxious, mars-bar-loving boss. 

 

Ciana Campbell from the Ennis Book Club Festival also joined Máire on the show to talk about the authors confirmed for the festival, which include Martin Sixsmith (author of Philomena, Oscar nominated) Dervla Murphy, Donal Ryan, Rachel English, Eamon Morissey, DJ Carey and many others. The programme of events will include, fiction, poetry, social commentary, literature music and drama and events as Gaeilge.  

 

Paul “Calso” Callaghan, our resident Cook, Food Blogger and Author of Calso Cooks: Real Food Made Easy was in studio and looked at some helpful tips for the kitchen and gave us a tasty recipe to try out.  Calso’s lamb stew is available on his blog thesustainablelarder.blogspot.com
