The Afternoon Show – Monday May 12th 2014

Joining Máire on today’s Afternoon Show was Ann O’Brien from Ennis. Ann has been involved with the Clare 250 Cancer Centre for almost 20 years, as a volunteer fundraiser and has personal experience of the services offered at the centre. This year will be her 17th pilgrimage to Lourdes with the centre and has spent many years volunteering with the cycle event. The 35th annual Clare 250 Mile Cycle takes place this coming weekend – May 17th and 18th.

Philip Moreau, our resident Gardening Expert and Horticulturist from Glenbrook Nurseries, Tuamgraney joined us for a look at what to do and what not to do in the garden. Roisin Garvey, Green Schools Travel Education Officer with An Taisce also joined the show as this week it’s Green-Schools National Walk to School Week, May 12th – 16th. There will be thousands of children with their teachers and parents choosing to walk to school across the country during this one of a kind week with events planned in over 1,000 schools to mark the occasion. Of particular note is National WOW Day, which takes place on Wednesday, May 14th when thet’ll aim to get 20,000 students on their feet for the commute to school.
