The Afternoon Show – Friday May 9th 2014

Joining Máire on today’s Friday panel was Laura Mulcahy, Ennis Playwright and Director,  Cormac O’Sullivan of DNG O’Sullivan Hurley and Peter O’Connell from The Clare Champion. The panel talked about the upcoming local elections and their views on what the candidates are meeting on the doorstep. From the role of the local councillor to representing their community and the issues that are most pertinent to the people of Clare. They also talked about the level of anger and frustration amongst people. They also discussed election posters and what’s needed to help promote Ennis and Clare as a destination for visitors and for locals themselves. 

The panel also talked about how Eurovision fever is hitting Europe – and what’s going wrong for Ireland? Last night the Irish entry – Can Linn and Kasey Smith’s Heartbeat didn’t make it through the semi final stages. The panel talked about how Eurovision has changed over the years, and they also reminisced about the twentieth anniversary of Riverdance, which occurs at this time.
