Today’s Afternoon Show featured The Friday Panel. Joining Máire Moynahan in studio was Kilmurry McMahon native, Peter O’Connell from The Clare Champion, Verena Tarpey of the Rape Crisis Mid West and Rosalie Byrne Muir from Ennis Soroptimists. Among the topics discussed was the impact of the Central Remedial Clinic controversy on local charities. They also talked about safety and rural isolation this afternoon. This week we heard on Clare FM news how a West Clare pensioner cycled 30 miles through the night to check himself into a nursing home after being terrorised by robbers at his remote home. Three men have pleaded guilty to charges arising out of the crime, but the case has led to questions and discussions about the safety of people in their homes. The panel talked about community watch schemes, the need for neighbourliness and reaching out to those who may feel alone. Also up for discussion today was the current plight of Manchester United. They discussed the raft of criticism against David Moyes and how he is managing the team in the shadow of Sir Alex Ferguson.
Tess Purcell, our resident Stylist also joined us for a look at what’s hot and what’s not in our style and fashion feature. She focussed on the soon to be in stores Spring/Summer collections which she says are still heavily influenced by the 80’s. She talked about metallic colours, skirts and box cut patterns for tops and jackets. She also announced that orange is an up and coming colour for the new season.
