On Wednesday’s Morning Focus John Cooke spoke with Political Editor with the Irish Independent Fionnan Sheehan who said that the Government’s handling of the issue has made international headlines over the past few days – and the IMF has also been watching closely

Senator Tony Mulcahy of Fine Gael said he was delighted that the government has rolled back on this
He added that he doesn’t understand why they look to the vulnerable people to find cuts in the first place and that more services are needed in these areas- not less
Senator Mulcahy also defended payments made to TDs and Senators who were newly elected last year.
