Morning Focus Wednesday September 18

One of the county’s most infamous traffic blackspots was discussed on Wednesday’s Morning Focus

Traffic Gridlock on one of County Clare’s Busiest Tourist routes has been condemned by local Councillors with renewed calls to knock two protected buildings in Ennistymon
Blake’s Corner prompted heated debate at Monday’s meeting of Clare County Council, as the authority was questioned about the legal process of having the old shops de-listed and demolished in the interests of public safety
The Council’s Senior Engineer said their focus is on resolving traffic problems at the Lahinch turn-off in Ennistymon through formal planning procedures
Councillor Bill Slattery said the Blake’s and Linnane’s Buildings should have been de-listed and knocked years ago
And he criticised those involved in the Save Ennistymon Heritage group who are fighting to save them
