Morning Focus Wednesday November 20

The people of Shannon have been told there’s no health risk in the area, despite persistent foul odours
Clare County Council has agreed with the findings of the Environmental Protection Agency regarding the inadequacy of the local water water treatment plant, but a solution to the problem may be a number of years away.

On Wednesday’s Morning Focus John Cooke was joined by Senior Engineer with Water Services at Clare County Council Sean Ward
He said that funding for a new sewerage system will depend on the new Irish Water Authority, but they’re hoping to arrange some interim measures before then
Fears had been expressed that the smell in Shannon may have posed a risk to human health, but Sean said the EPA don’t believe there’s cause for worry.
