According to the Garda Inspectorate report A third of all detectives are untrained, with some waiting up to 10 years before getting any instruction, according to a damning report by the Garda Inspectorate.The bulk of all Garda recruits since 2005 – numbering 5,000 in total – have not received training in how to conduct interviews.In a 500-page report, the inspectorate said that a lack of crime management structures meant that inexperienced gardaí were sometimes investigating serious crimes, such as rape, child sexual abuse, and robbery.It said there was "minimal assessment" of students before becoming gardaí and there was "no practical training" to ensure gardaí were "prepared" for policing.The report, conducted over two years, found there were "systemic failures" in the recording of crime.. Fine Gael Oireactas members met with local councilors to discuss the issues surrounding Irish water prior to this week’s council meeting. The issue of Water charges was again the hot topic at this months cancel meeting with motions passed gaining cross party support to suspend water charges until there is more clarity about what charges and prices the public can expect. Protesters attended the meeting and applauded Councilors for passing the motions in relation to Irish water. Fine Gael Deputy Pat Breen discussed the on-going concerns about Irish Water with John.
Cllr Clare Colleran Molloy was in studio to speak about a motion she brought to Clare County Council this week in relation to US emigration reform. A significant concentration of undocumented Irish immigrants in the U.S. hail from the Western seaboard, and 2,000 are understood to hail from County Clare. Each one of these would have at least 10 family members living in Clare, meaning that some 20,000 Clare people must experience their loved one's absence at important times.

The Irish Whale and Dolphin group say a private jet needed to fly turtle washed up in Co Clare to Canary Islands. The turtle is now ready to be released The Irish Whale and Dolphin Group is hoping to find an owner of a private jet that is willing to transport a loggerhead turtle from Ireland to the Canary Islands.The turtle was washed ashore during last winter's storms on the west coast of Clare. She had suffered severe injuries but has been recovering at the Galway Atlantaquaria, where she has increased in weight from 11kg to over 20kg. The IWDG says the turtle is now ready to be released but it hasn't been able to find a commercial airline to transport her. It is hoping a private jet might be the answer.
