The government has announced a significant funding grant for a Killaloe sporting project which has already received strong backing from rugby great Keith Wood
Minister Phil Hogan has given the green light for Clare Local Development Company to grant 200,000 euro for the development of 2 grass playing pitches and a synthetic pitch at Clarisford, Killaloe
The grant will cover around half of the overall cost of the project, which is being driven by the  Ballina/Killaloe Sports & Community Facilities Development Company
Keith Wood expressed his delight at this development and also had a chat about rugby and hurling.

Eight people have been arrested as part of a joint investigation carried out by Gardaí and the PSNI into organised prostitution- arrests also occurred in Ennis
Searches were carried out at over 120 houses, apartments and flats on both sides of the border
Some of the premises were being used as brothels
The PSNI said three suspected victims of human trafficking have been rescued and taken to places of safety

Ruhama, the organisation that deals with women who are victims of prostitution, has welcomed the operation and commended the fact that it is targeting those organising and controlling prostitution
Gardaí say the operation is cross-border because prostitution operates on a cross-border  basis and victims of trafficking and prostitution are regularly moved around brothels north and south

Members of the public and community and tourism groups throughout counties Clare, Galway and Tipperary are being invited to have their say on the future provision of signage in the Lough Derg area
A signage audit has been carried out by consultants URS Ireland, and a presentation will be made on the initial findings of the consultants at two public meetings to be held later today in Portumna and Killaloe

Aideen, who is married with two children, has been living with MS for 6 years – she joined John in studio to speak about her personal experience of the illness
She said she would love for people who are recently diagnosed with MS to know that it’s not the end of the world

160 people in Clare are registered with MS Ireland
MS Ireland works with people with MS and their families in the area overseeing the organisation of services for local people with MS – home visits, counselling, physiotherapy and exercise classes and a range of symptom management, newly diagnosed and personal development programmes
They are trying to raise more awareness of MS to ensure those being diagnosed realise that many people live positive and active lives despite their condition, and that MS Ireland is a caring and supportive organisation that anyone can contact if they need information or support
They also provide lots of information to clients on what MS is and how they can manage their condition better
John McDonald, the Clare Coordinator of Multiple Sclerosis Ireland, encouraged people with the illness or who are diagnosed recently to get in touch

The Clare branch of MS Ireland are holding a ceile on Friday night at 9.30pm at the Mountshannon Hotel- there will be refreshments and music and all are welcome
Also the group’s monthly meeting will take place next Wednesday June 6- it is open to all and will take place in the Mountshannon Hotel at 7.30pm
