On Wednesday's Edition of Morning Focus with Marian Egan
Clare County Council's Grave Draft ByLaws contain 39 clauses, including definitions relating to the management and control of burial grounds in the county. According to the bylaws, a double grave measures 9ft long by 8ft wide and a single grave measures 9ft long by 4ft wide. The bylaw process will require the publication of a notice, of a period for inspection and the making of written submissions, referral to prescribed bodies, the consideration of submissions and the making or otherwise of the bylaws.
Burial space is at a premium and the whole purpose of the depth requirement (at 8Ft) would ensure two burials in the one plot. Ger Dollard Director of Services Clare County Council joined us in studio to discuss these bylaws further. Councillor Bill Slattery, Lahinch, called in to say he hopes these bylaws will not be passed as many seem unrealistic. Tony McMahon of Mc Mahon Undertakers Blackwater, Ardnacrusha also shared his concerns if these bylaws were to be passed.
Sean McLoughlin, Fomer FG Councillor Shannon, joined us next, he told Marian about a recent scam scare he had when he called to get his Computer Tablet fixed. When Sean called, what he believed to be the helpline, he was asked by the gentleman on the other end of the phone a series of questions including his debit card details and his Mother's madden name. Following his instinct, and besides his bank details to cover a repair fee of €15, Sean gave incorrect information, once the conversation ended and the gentleman said he would need an hour to fix the Tablet, Sean immediately received a call from his bank outlining suspicious transactions. All transactions were cancelled and Sean felt the need to share the story so to warn people about similar called.

Charlie Weston, Personal Finance Editor with the Irish Independent spoke to us about his article claiming that families are losing up to €400 by not going online to pay bills. There are penalties for those who continue to pay bills the traditional way. Many of these people argue that Broadband is not always good, especially in rural areas, there is more of a risk of something going wrong with your details over the internet and if something does go wrong online it is the user's fault rather than the company.
