Former Clare All Star Hurler and Sixmilebridge estate agent Niall Gilligan joined John Cooke on Wednesday’s Morning Focus
He is frustrated after spending four days in court and receiving 12 solicitor letters over a small sign placed on the side of a road at O’Callaghan’s Mills village in October 2010
Niall was victorious against Clare County Council in court and says the sign was on private property and he had permission of landowner
He feels the council should be more supportive of local businesses in light of current economic difficulties

Clare County Council says the costs incurred by the Council in pursuing this case are minimal.

Jackie Whelan of the West Clare Railway outlined his plans to extend the famous west Clare railway into the market town of Kilrush within the next two years
Jackie said that after Kilrush, he was planning to extend the line to Kilkee and to provide a rail-link to the €150 million Doonbeg Golf Club resort on the Clare coast
Mr Whelan also intends to extend to Doonbeg Golf Club

The search for the fishermen missing off West Cork is set to resume for a fourth day,  with an improvement in weather conditions being forecast for the search area

Clare County Council are holding a series of public consultations in relation to the Draft Shannon Town and Environs Local Area Plan 2012-2018
The plan, which is the first stand alone town plan that has been produced for Shannon, was placed on public display last month and will provide a framework for the future development and enhancement of Clare’s second largest town and its environs for the next 6 years
Public consultations have been taking place in Shannon’s Skycourt Centre and continue today from 2pm to 5:30pm and tomorrow 19th January from 3pm to 7:30pm
A further public consultation will be held at Rineanna House in the Shannon Free Zone on Friday between 12:30pm and 3:30pm

Low level intimidation of prisoners by some prison officers, overcrowding, filthy cells and broken windows are among the most serious problems in Limerick Prison, according to the inspector of prisons, Judge Michael Reilly.
His latest report has just been published on the Department of Justice website, and the Minister, Alan Shatter, has said he was “disappointed and indeed shocked” that deficiencies the inspector previously identified were not addressed by prison management.
Liam Herrick is the Executive Director with the Irish Penal Reform Trust. He discussed the conditions in Limerick Prison with John.
