Morning Focus – Wednesday 15/02/17

Wednesday’s Morning Focus Show was overflowing with controversial topics and great guests.

At 9am, the show kicked off with discussions of the continual whistle-blower row. Deputy Joe Carey joined Gavin to discuss the effects of the government facing the no confidence motion.

After that, Michael Lacey, Chairperson at Midwestern regional Drug and Alcohol Task force, and Councillor Alan O’Callaghan joined Gavin to talk about the concerns voiced over Clare’s drug problem.

To finish up the first hour of the show, Gavin welcomed Martin McMahon, Chairperson of Clare IMSCA onto the show. They talked about the local farmers protesting the closure of Vet lab in Meelick.

At 10am, Gavin spoke to Councillor Slattery about the new Doolin Pier by-laws.

Following that, Tracey Guilfoyle came onto the show to talk to Gavin about missing fundraising money. After a successful fundraiser, Clare Crusaders were heartbroken to find out the donations had gone missing.

Next, Michael Fitzsimons of Fáilte Ireland joined Gavin on the show to ask the public for input on promoting the Burren and Cliffs of Moher.

To end the second hour of the show, Gavin spoke to Féidhlim Harty, Environmental consultant and founder of the Garden of Eden Projects. They spoke about permaculture for biodiversity enhancement.

At 11am, Gavin spoke to students from Coláiste Mhuire about a social experiment on teenage gambling.

Then, Gavin spoke to Diarmuid Scully about the International Chess Festival taking place in Bunratty.

To close the show, Gavin hosted the ‘Ask the Vet’ segment with advice from John Underhill of Burren Vets.
