The midweek edition of Morning Focus heard first from Clare’s Independent TD, Dr Michael Harty, on controversial efforts to introduced a ‘zero tolerance’ approach to drink driving.

Helping children to avoid the so-called ‘summer slide’ was the next topic up for discussion. Pat was joined by Inez Bailey from NALA who explained what parents and guardians can do to make learning fun over the long summer holidays. More details are available on the website

There are retreats for adults and children coming up at St Flannan’s College in Ennis and Pat was joined on the line by Michael Moloney from the Voice of Peace Team.

Mary Crawford, a member of Fianna Fáils committee on commemorations, was Pat’s next guest. Ahead of a special event in Ennis next Sunday week (July 23) to mark the centenary of the East Clare Bye-Election, she’s trying to trace relatives of the hundreds of people who nominated Éamon DeValera in 1917.
