Gavin was joined on air by Sean Conlan of Ennis Mental Health Association as Mental Health Week begins next week, October 7th.
This week will see a wide range of events taking place. They include important talks, singing, yoga, tai chi, mindfulness through art and more. Ahead of the week-long series of events, this Thursday at the Temple Gate Hotel, Dr. Maureen Griffin will deliver a presentation on Youth Mental Health and the effects of Social media.

Adrian Kelly, Chief Fire Officer for Clare joined Gavin in studio today ahead of Storm Lorenzo to advise listeners on what to expect. An orange warning for Clare will be in place from 6pm tomorrow to 3am on Friday. The local authority’s Severe Weather Awareness Team is keeping the situation under review. We’ll have more on this on Thursday’s programme, ahead of the arrival of the storm.
John Murray, Pilot and Operations Officer of Community Air Ambulance joined Gavin to discuss the launch of a major public fundraising appeal this week. The Cork-based Helicopter Emergency Medical Service needs to raise €2 million each year to keep it airborne.
Next, Gavin welcomed two guests, Una O’ Hagan and Colm Keane to the studio. They have just published their book ‘The Village of Bernadette’ where they celebrate the Irish connection to Lourdes by recounting stories of miracles and cures. As well as highlighting the connections to high profile figures from John F Kennedy to Séamus Heaney.

The conference ‘Let the Children Play’ is set to take place at Mary Immaculate College, Limerick, this weekend (Sat, Oct 5). It will outline how play is not just important but critical in developing the whole child. Dr Maurice Harmon, Head of Department of Learning, Society, and Religious Education (Acting) and Senior Lecturer in Education (Religious Education) of Mary Immaculate College joined Gavin on air to tell us more about the event.
