Midwest Fianna Fáil TDs Willie O’Dea and Niall Collins, and Timmy Dooley, yesterday visited the Emergency Department at Mid-Western Regional Hospital to see first-hand the extent of over-crowding and the impact on patient safety
Deputy Dooley said the impact of the crisis at MWRH is far-reaching, as the Minister for Health continues to ignore the problem, the health services right across the region are suffering
He says it’s not just about patients in Limerick as people in his own constituency of Clare are affected and are very worried about what is going on
Meanwhile,
New Healthstat figures reveal that ONE-in-five patients have to wait between 12 and 24 hours to be admitted through the A&E at Dooradoyle
The report also reveals that 1.5 patients had to wait over 24 hour for a bed on a ward at the region’s main emergency department
Overall, the hospital scored an amber in Healthstat’s red, green and amber marking system
