On Tuesday's edition of Morning Focus with John Cooke

A trade union representing workers in Shannon Group says it's disappointed that management are seeking voluntary redundancies there. A first meeting between management and workers' representatives took place Monday, at which unions were officially informed of plans to reduce the Shannon Group workforce on a voluntary basis. Reports have said that 40 redundancies will be sought, but SIPTU says no number was given during the discussions. Tony Carroll SIPTU Aviation Sector Organiser spoke to John. Fine Gael Senator Shannon Tony Mulcahy also gave his take on this.

Clare County Council is being urged to improve access to beaches along the county's coasts. Barriers have been erected at the entrances of car parks for many beaches, including Kilkee, in a bid to ensure that they don't become occupied by high-sided vehicles. However, this has also been off-putting for the likes of kayakers and divers who can find it impossible to bring their gear near to the beach as a result. Michael Barrett from Barefield contacted the show to share his recent experience travelling the Wild Atlantic Way with his Kayak in tow, Michael was unable to access many of the beaches on his journey and says it was very off putting and a soluntion is needed. Clare FM has sought a response from Clare County Council, but Martin Kiely, a former National Officer with the Irish Underwater Council, says groups stay away from some beaches altogether, he also spoke with John.

Denise Mullane Big Blue Box Cycle co-ordinator and participant spoke to us next about The Saint Vincent de Paul together with Bank of Ireland Cycle taking place around the west coast this week. It will be in Kilrush/Kilkee/Milltown & Ennistymon in the coming days as they travel the WILD ATLANTIC WAY as part of a fundraising initiative.
