A Fine Gael TD is to lodge a formal complaint over what she says are sexist comments by Senator David Norris
Regina Doherty said she found the senator’s comments to be deeply inappropriate"
She will now make a formal complaint to the Leader of the Seanad over Senator Norris’s choice of language
The senator had criticised Deputy Doherty for claiming she had never heard of the Seanad before running for the Dail

On Tuesday’s Morning Focus John Cooke discussed the comments with Senator Martin Conway of Fine Gael
and Councillor Patricia McCarthy in Shannon who was disgusted at Senator Norris’ choice of language.

Environmental Awareness Officer in Clare Joan Tarmey discussed excessive littering a the county’s beauty spots  during the good weather
Last week extra staff were drafted in to deal with a sudden increase in litter at Clare’s top beaches
An unprecedented rise in visitor numbers to beaches like Kilkee, Lahinch and Spanish Point this week, has led Clare County council to increase resources and install additional temporary bins along beaches
Clare County Council is reminding people to take responsibility for their own rubbish, to avoid on the spot fines.
 
Clare Fire Service Chief Fire Officer Adrian Kelly warned that dry weather conditions are ripe for gorse and forest fires- he put out an urgent appeal and make people aware that even a cigarette butt could spark a fire in these conditions.

Will Cahir of Cahir and Co. Solicitors in Ennis joined John for this week’s free legal advice slot
Today he discussed the issue of ‘accidental landlords’ raised in FLAC’s report published recently.

We returned to the issue of littering when John spoke with Anne McDonagh from Lahinch who picks up rubbish constantly – she thinks people need to be more responsible and respect their environment
Businessman Donoch O’Loughlin thinks in general we’re a dirty race of people and mustn’t rely on the availability of bins but take responsibility for their own litter.
