This morning’s show began with Junior Minister Pat Breen discussing his visit to Lisdoonvarna direct provision centre.
The visit comes after concern over whether local services such as health and education can cope with such an influx of people.
Then, Clare’s Chief Fire Officer warned us of the heed the orange fire warning as gorse fires become more and more common in the fine weather.
Finishing off the show’s first hour we heard about the progress being made on the Shannon Greenway Project. The project, which would run from the River’s source in Cavan to the Shannon Estuary would be the country’s longest Greenway or off-road route for cyclists and walkers. Eoin O’Hagan, a East Clare businessman is credited with coming up with the idea for such a project and joined Pat in studio.

Then, Head Chef at the Rowan Tree gave us recipes and tips to make our summer barbeques great. Especially as we continue in the heatwave with temperatures soaring up above 30 degrees.

However, with such heat comes some danger. Kevin O’Hagan of the Irish Cancer Society reinforced that message and told us how to protect our skin in the harsh heat.
The hour ended with our animal welfare update from Clare County Dog Warden, Frankie Coote.
The show’s final hour was time for details on the 114th County Clare Agricultural Show from show Chairperson, Joe Lillis.
Then, we heard from the streets of Ennis. What do people really think of the weather?
Then, details on an upcoming new book: ‘In Search Of Dreamtime’ by Michael Houlihan. The book focuses on topographical features in Clare and examines their ancient, mythic meanings and folklore associations. It is the third in a series of books focusing on folklore by Michael Houlihan who despite being a Kerryman has made Clare his home and focus.
