The group continue to call for a reversal of the cuts to Home Help hours and Home Care packages and are asking Minister Reilly to come out in public and address the questions that concern citizens after six days of uncertainty about frontline services for some of the most vulnerable people in our society

Mary McMahon of Ennis based Caring for Carers said that although they are delighted that people with disabilities got their PA service retained but hopes that carers, the elderly or the ill don’t suffer
She said that as it stands there is huge demand and long waiting lists for services

The organisation that provides psychotherapy and advocacy services to men and women who have experienced sexual violence says it was heartening to see how some dioceses and orders have embraced a policy of transparent child protection and are working hard to implement good practice- however,  they were also shocked and alarmed by revelations of appalling practice where the pain and suffering of victims could have been prevented
Reports of seven audits of religious congregations and dioceses by the National Board for Safeguarding Children in the Catholic Church were released yesterday
They found more than 330 allegations of abuse against 146 priests and members of congregations
Records were examined – dating back to 1975 – in the dioceses of Clonfert in Galway, Cork and Ross, Limerick and Kildare and Leighlin, as well as the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart, the Dominicans and the Congregation of the Holy Spirit
Maeve Lewis, Executive Director of One in Four discussed the findings.

There’s been a 33 per cent increase in the number of people seeking help from the Amen Support Services for men suffering from domestic violence
2-thousand-835 people contacted the charity between January and June of this year- their annual report released yesterday has shown
While over 4-thousand-300 people contacted their helpline last year
Some 38 per cent of men reported verbal abuse, 24 per cent of clients reported physical abuse and 37.5 per cent reported psychological abuse
Eugene Wogan, Director of Amen spoke with John and said the amount of men living with domestic violence in Ireland is staggering

She joined John in studio to speak about their annual conference that’s taking place in Ennis this weekend- beginning tomorrow and running until Sunday
