The Government is hoping the substantially recast water charges package will reboot the stalled Irish Water registration process and help the Coalition put its "annus horribilis" behind it.Senior Government sources admit the real test of the new water charges plan, announced by Minister for the Environment Alan Kelly yesterday, will not be the size of the next planned mass protest, but whether registrations with Irish Water pick up in the coming months.Minsirer Brendan Howlin spoke to John about the clarification of water charges. We also got reaction from two of our local TD's fianna Fails Timmmy Dooley and Fine Faels Pat Breen. Niamh O'Brien from Clare says no to water charges also spoke to us about yesterdays clarification.
Our resident doctor Dr Maire Finn joined us for her usual Thursday heath slot. As its mid west drug and alchold awareness week Dr Finn spoke about issues surrounding substance abuse.
UL Hospitals have experienced an increase in emergency presentations for both medical and surgical patients over the last week leading to increased wait time for patients in the Emergency Department.
To address the increase UL Hospitals has opened additional inpatient beds and has transferred patients to Ennis, Nenagh and St John's. Earlier this week we spoke to a listnerer Tony russel who spoke to us about his wife who was ona Trolley fro over 20 hours followug admittance for a suspected stroke.
