The Annual People of the Year Award takes place this evening in the Old Ground Hotel, Ennis when five local people are to receive an award from Bishop Kieran O’Reilly
These awards honour people who work in a voluntary capacity and contribute strongly to the community – often doing so unnoticed 
On Thursday’s Morning Focus John Cooke spoke with Fr Tom Hogan of Ennis Parish about the awards and the five recipients

He was also joined by two of those recipients; Donal Griffin of the Lahinch Road who is heavily involved in Ennis Parish, and Carmel O’Grady of Childers Road, Ennis who was nominated because of her tireless and selfless work within her community.

Taoiseach and Tanaiste are about to present a review of the first year of the coalitions Programme for Government
Enda Kenny and Eamon Gilmore will unveil a breakdown of the goals achieved and those missed on a Department by Department basis
However Mr. Kenny’s previously promised "report cards" for Minister’s aren’t happening , with his spokesperson saying that was simply a "figure of speech"
Also, the BAI decision to uphold a complaint against RTE about a tweet relating to Sean Gallagher
The tweet was read out on the Frontline show during a presidential debate
The Broadcasting watchdog found that the station made no effort to verify the source of the information

Remember Senan: Lighting a Candle of Hope
For the people of West Clare, Senan is a hugely significant figure, with people, places, churches, schools, wells, all bearing his name
This day has traditionally been celebrated in West Clare but for the past few years the parishes of the Inis Cathaigh Cluster have renewed the marking of this day, keeping memory of Senan of Scattery, who sowed the seeds of the Gospel in West Clare and went out from there to places across the then known world as far away as Rome
This Sunday they are starting their Pilgrim Walks- people assembling from all over the West Clare area
Emigrants are intending to light candles too in the US and Australia

Today is International Women’s Day 2012

The launch of Excelling Women Network Clare – an international group for women –  by Mayor of Clare, Councillor Pat Hayes  is taking place this evening in the Old Ground Hotel, Ennis at 7pm
The launch will kick off celebrations for International Women’s Day which will run until 10pm in the hotel
Shannon resident Kate Njoku from Nigeria, a women’s rights activist and Orla Ni Fheili
of Clare Immigrant Support joined John to explain what the network aims to achieve.

Tony O’Brien- Chairman of the Recovery and Recovery Unit in Killaloe appealed to the public for information on two engines that were recently stolen

The 90 horsepower Honda Engines -worth around 22 thousand euro were taken from the rescue services’ base in Killaloe some time between 9 pm on Wednesday the 29th of February and 7 pm – yesterday evening – the 7th of March.

Anyone with any information is urged to contact the gardai at Killaloe on 061 376 242

Manuel Di Lucia of Kilkee Marine Rescue gave us an update on the progress of the Kilkee Moments project
The group have secured HB Ice-cream as main sponsor and are now over 80% funded
The book design is due for completion end March so they have one month to raise the final 20 % and they are appealing to the local businesses for support
They would also like to announce that our book launch will take place in Kilkee on the Sunday of the June bank holiday weekend
They were invited to display some of the photos received from the public at the opening of the new library in Kilkee next week, they will be projected onto the wall in the main section of the library.
