Morning Focus Thursday January 5

The controversial ‘superloo’ in Kilrush town was up for discussion on Thursday’s Morning Focus after local representatives in the town called time on the town’s public convenience – and formally agreed to give twelve months notice to the supplier
The public convenience which costs 39 thousand euro to maintain, generates income of  just over 2,300 hundred euro which has long since been a bone of contention among both the general public and local representatives
Local Councillor Marian McMahon Jones spoke with John Cooke saying it was just too expensive to maintain any further
Kilrush Business woman Maria Hartman said she is delighted the toilet is getting the flush as she feels it has been nothing but a drain on the town’s finances.

Court users answered summonses to appear at O’Donovan’s bar and restaurant in Ballina, on Tuesday following the Courts Service’s search for a new court venue for Killaloe
The disco lights were switched off and a screen was pulled down over the bar 10m from the judge’s bench.
Judge McCarthy looked down on Gardai, solicitors and court users from a raised stage normally reserved for bands
It is understood the bar is the only licensed premises in the western region from Sligo to Clare used by the Courts Service as a court venue.
The move by the service in identifying the bar for court sittings means court users no longer have to make the 64-mile round trip to Ennis, necessary since last September after sittings were suspended when the Kincora Hotel went into receivership
Michael O’Donovan of O’Donovan’s Bar & Restaurant in Killaloe Ballina had a word with John and Chris Lynch, a solicitor from Limerick City said it was most important that it is back sitting in Killaloe.
