Morning Focus Thursday December 19

 Sleet and hail showers this morning has led to the closure of the county’s busiest road

The M18 is closed in both directions at Crusheen after a number of minor accidents, while flooding has also led to issues elsewhere.
There have been at least three accidents on the M18 near Crusheen this morning, the first occurring at about 4:30
Showers of sleet and hail have led to what Gardai have described as treacherous conditions, and the motorway has been closed in the last half hour.  Drivers on other routes in the area are advised to proceed with care
Elsewhere, Gardai in Ennistymon say there is a lot of slush on the N85 between Ennis and Inagh and have also reported flooding between Lisdoonvarna and Kilshanny
The Cratloe to Sixmilebridge Road is closed due to flooding at Poulawiley Bridge and after gusts reached up to 100 kilometres per hour yesterday, drivers are warned of flooding in other areas as well as debris on the roads
 
On Thursday’s Morning Focus John Cooke was joined in studio by Clare FM’s Deputy News Editor Gavin Grace who had an update of the situation.  
 
He also spoke with Councillor Joe Cooney in Bodyke and Paddy Grealish of Gort Chamber of Commerce to find out how things are in their areas.

The annual Clare County Board Convention takes place tonight at the Auburn Lodge Hotel in Ennis
Delegates will be faced with 33 motions, ranging from the availability of Intercounty players to clubs, to the reversal of the seeded draw for the Munster Football championship, while Tubber have put forward a proposal for a major changes to the Senior Hurling championship
Lisa Lawlor of Clare FM Sport joined John in studio for a word on what will be discussed later.
John Underhill of Burren Vets joined John in studio with some festive health tips for the animals in your life.
